The new sound of brass-house-soul from Cardiff and Bristol has been making waves across the festival, radio, and TV circuits. Year of the Dog, a six-piece band formed in 2018 at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, has quickly become one of the most unforgettable live acts on the underground scene.
Their high-energy performances have earned them a loyal fan base, and they have been selling out gigs and rising fast. They have already graced the main stages at several festivals, including Nozstock, Cheltenham Jazz, and Cardiff Pride, and have been interviewed by BBC Radio stations across the country.
In addition to their success on the live circuit, Year of the Dog gained even wider recognition for their star appearance as the Swing Band in Netflix’s smash hit series, Sex Education, where they performed their original tune, “Run These Streets,” in series 1, episode 3.
As 2023 approaches, the Dogs are gearing up for an even bigger year. They will open the In It Together festival and headline shows at some of the UK’s most iconic venues, including Cardiff’s The Globe, Bath’s Komedia, and London’s Brixton Blues Kitchen. Fans can also look forward to fresh music from the band, as they continue to push the boundaries of their genre and delight audiences with their unique sound.
