Worcester Music Festival has opened applications for charities to apply to be next year’s chosen cause.
Each year, the festival chooses to support a different local cause to sit at the heart of its fundraising efforts across the musical weekend. This year, the festival will take place over 15-17 September across multiple venues within Worcester’s vibrant city centre.
In 2022, the weekend-long music and art festival had an incredible impact on the year’s chosen charity: Worcester Community Trust. As well as raising an incredible £3367.69, the festival promoted the charity’s fantastic work to countless festival goers, securing new supports, volunteers and service users.
Ant Robbins, Festival Director, commented:
“Worcester Music Festival is a community event, run by the community, for the community. And, following the impact of the pandemic on Worcester and its residents, there really was no better charity to support on our return.
“From their six community hubs across the city, Worcester Community Trust run a full programme of services that ensures you never have to face a challenge alone. With services available for every age and need, from loneliness to job coaching, we’re proud to have made an impact through this year’s festival.
“Now, we’re focusing on next year, and we’re on the hunt for an important cause to support!”
The festival invites charities to complete their application form, where they are asked to provide information on their work, whom they support and, most importantly, if there is a special project the festival can help them with. In previous years, the festival has supported Worcester Foodbank, Worcestershire Association of Carers and St. Paul’s Hostel.
A majority of the money raised is from generous donations from the public. Throughout the festival are plenty of donation boxes, and an innovative charity team are always out with buckets, dressed in a colourful range of costumes.
Worcester Music Festival was launched in 2008, featuring several venues and artists. It has since flourished into a weekend-long event that supports both the local music scene and the community at large, giving artists a platform to perform on while donating to worthy causes. Now, the event features over 250 artists in 20 venues situated right in the heart of the faithful city.
