Prepare for a night of top-tier musical showmanship as Sparring Songwriters brings together two acclaimed and award-winning folk artists, John Wort Hannam and Chris Ronald, for a thrilling lyrical showdown. Though John hails from Jersey and Chris from Lancashire, both have carved out highly successful careers in Western Canada’s folk scene, earning accolades from the Canadian Folk Music Awards—John even clinching two for his latest album Long Haul.

John’s narrative-driven roots style meets Chris’s poetic lyricism and buttery fusion of Roots and Americana in a friendly battle of songcraft. Keeping the peace—and adding his own musical flair—is multi-instrumentalist and referee Ryland Moranz. But who will claim victory in this ultimate folk-off? That’s for the audience to decide!

Also taking the stage are Many Men, a band of six Worcestershire chaps who originally came together to entertain diners at a Burns Night supper. Their roaring success spurred them to bring their rousing mix of tender love songs, boisterous shanties, and folk classics to audiences across the Midlands.

Expect an evening of exceptional songwriting, heartfelt performances, and a good-natured musical tussle—folk music at its finest!
