*‘Legend’ A six letter word and all too often mis-used:
But here at Lakefest HQ we are all of the opinion that for 2021 we might need to find a superior superlative…
When an artist can lay truthful claim to having sold 100 million records, and look back over a sixty year career having retained that rarest of things: relevance to each passing decade, and audience then possibly ‘Legend’ doesn’t quite cut it, but it’s all we’ve got so I guess we’ll just have to leave it there.
The truth is that when Sir Tom Jones steps out onto the Lakefest main stage under the shadow of Eastnor Castle it will be the realisation of a dream:
‘I feel doubly blessed’ says festival entrepreneur Lee Martin ‘After the extraordinary and uncertain year that we have all had to live through, to be returning to our field of dreams with such a timeless artist: someone who embodies integrity and has never been anything other than cool is something truly special. A just reward, for the patience of all those lovely Lakefest customers who rolled over their 2020 tickets and kept us alive’.
It is impossible to describe, fully, just how hurtful it was to have to shut up shop last year, nor how excited we are to have the team back together, crossing t’s and dotting i’s for Lakefest 2021.
Whilst Sir Tom Jones is, arguably, the perfect performer for a festival that has become a watchword for family and the coming together of generations the rest of the weekends bill makes pretty good reading for any music and arts lover: with the usual eclectic mix of style and substance.
Echo & the Bunnymen, Seasick Steve, Razorlight, The Magic Numbers, Stereo MC’s and a host of other world beating noise-makers, aligned to another year of wit and wisdom from the eternally popular spoken-word stage. As ever a multitude of children’s activities and all within one of the most magical of locations.
This is our tenth year, although it should have been eleven. The past, though, is another country and as joyous as the memories of previous Lakefest weekends undoubtedly are, our focus now is on the memories we’re about to make.
See you in the field!
