Katie McGlynn, known for her role in Coronation Street, will join the lead cast of Peter James’ Wish You Were Dead UK tour from May. She will play the role of Cleo Morey, taking over from Giovanna Fletcher. The tour will run until July and tickets are available at PeterJames.com.
This production marks Katie’s professional stage play debut. The cast also includes George Rainsford as DSI Roy Grace and Clive Mantle as Curtis. Other cast members include Rebecca McKinnis, Callum Sheridan-Lee, Alex Stedman, and Gemma Stroyan. Leon Stewart will reprise his role as DS Glenn Branson. Understudies are Lizzie Grace, Jayda Kariuki, and Christopher Killik.
Katie expressed her excitement about joining the talented cast and performing in Peter James’ thrilling masterpiece. The play follows DSI Roy Grace and Cleo Morey as they encounter a nightmarish holiday. Wish You Were Dead is the sixth stage adaptation of Peter James’ novels and has become the most successful crime thriller stage franchise since Agatha Christie.
The production is produced by Josh Andrews and Peter James, with Shaun McKenna adapting the play. The creative team from Looking Good Dead is reunited for this production, with Jonathan O’Boyle directing and Michael Holt on design, Jason Taylor on lighting, and Max Pappenheim on sound.
Peter James’ previous novels adapted for the stage include Looking Good Dead, The House on Cold Hill, Not Dead Enough, Dead Simple, and The Perfect Murder. The TV series Grace, starring John Simm as DSI Roy Grace, was also a hit with audiences and will return for a third series on ITV.
