Event by Worcester Trades Union Council
Saturday 1 March 2025 from 13:15-17:00
The Hive, Worcester

Join us for a compelling and thought-provoking evening as we delve into the history and legacy of the 1984 miners’ strike—one of the most defining moments in modern British history. This in-person event will take place in The Studio at The Hive, providing an intimate setting for discussion, reflection, and connection.

We are honoured to welcome Paul Kelly, a former Agecroft miner who stood on strike for a full year. Paul will share his personal experiences, the challenges faced by striking miners and their families, and the lasting impact of those turbulent times.

Accompanying him is John Harris, a renowned documentary photographer who extensively covered the strike. John captured some of the most iconic images of the period, including one of the most widely recognised photographs of the movement. He will be showcasing a selection of his striking images, offering a visual journey through the resilience and struggle of the mining communities.

This event is more than just a historical discussion—it’s an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, ask questions, and connect with others who are passionate about this pivotal chapter in Britain’s social and political landscape.

This is free to attend, but you can reserve your place online.
