Dual Poetry Book Launch in Worcester
Sunday 13th April from 4pm to 6pm
Worcester Quaker Meeting House
21 Sansome Street, Worcester, WR1 1UH
Lovers of contemporary poetry are warmly invited to the launch of two captivating new collections: This World a Hunting Is by Brian Comber and Nothing Louche or Bohemian by Tina Cole and Michael W. Thomas.
The event promises an evening of literary discovery, featuring readings from each collection, an audience Q&A, and the opportunity to purchase signed copies from the poets themselves.
Worcestershire-based poet Brian Comber presents his fourth collection, This World a Hunting Is, drawing its title from a line by Scottish poet William Drummond (1585–1649). In this latest work, Comber continues to explore his eclectic range of interests and striking poetic insights, shifting seamlessly between themes as varied as home life (Building A Nest Box), science, history, and art (Giotto’s Perfect Circle).
Meanwhile, Nothing Louche or Bohemian, the collaborative work of Tina Cole and Michael W. Thomas, offers a compelling miscellany of memory and emotion, described as both intense and disconcerting.
Poet Helen Ivory praises Cole’s evocative writing:
“Tina Cole invokes the landscape of her childhood in poems seething with rich imagery and forceful language.”
Alison Brackenbury, meanwhile, highlights Thomas’s masterful storytelling:
“Michael W. Thomas’s poems are rich with the details of past and present lives. They explore the widest—and wildest—possibilities of those lives with passion and humour.”
This promises to be an unmissable event for poetry enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
