Poems and Locks: An Evening with Luke Kennard
Tuesday, July 16th at Artrix, Bromsgrove
Poetry has always held a special place for WORDS, and we are thrilled to announce an upcoming event that poetry enthusiasts won’t want to miss. On Tuesday, July 16th, 7:30pm The Studio at Artrix in Bromsgrove will host an evening with the esteemed poet and novelist Luke Kennard, who serves as a Professor of Creative Writing at Birmingham University.
Luke Kennard, a prominent figure in contemporary poetry, was the Canal and River Trust’s “Poet in Residence” during 2016-2017. During this residency, he composed a series of evocative poems, many of which were inspired by the Worcester to Birmingham Canal Path. His reading will focus on these works, providing insight into the themes and experiences that shaped them.
In addition to his residency pieces, Kennard will also share poems from various collections spanning his illustrious twenty-year career. This includes selections from his 2021 Forward Prize-winning book, “Notes on The Sonnets,” which has been celebrated for its inventive and profound exploration of the sonnet form.
This event promises a rich evening of literary exploration, offering attendees a unique opportunity to hear from one of the most innovative voices in modern poetry. Join us for an intimate and inspiring session with Luke Kennard, and immerse yourself in the beauty and depth of his work.
Tickets, at £10 each, are available from the Artrix Box Office.
