DIY Skate Punk group La Moxie have just released their debut EP, You’ve Burnt Your Bridge, Now Lie in It. An honest and raw take on the skate punk/pop punk genre. The Birmingham four piece really show their passion for making music together with this release. With a nostalgic feel to the album, remisitant of early 2000’s pop punk anthems from the likes of Blink-182 and Sum 41 and Fall Out Boy.
Having formed in the summer of 2019, the band have already seen success together, having played with prominent bands from the scene, such as Petrol Girls, The Bombpops, The Creepshow and Nervus.
The debut EP throws you in at the deep end, submerging you into what La Moxie are all about, upbeat melodies, catchy hooks, distortion and beautiful harmonies. Classic sounds for the genre, mixed with a new energy and enthusiasm which makes this release even more enjoyable.
With standout tracks like No U, a faster and more up tempo song which packs a punch and twentythirteen, a much slower paced track allowing guitarist and vocalist Lauren to show off not only her vocal abilities but also the bands song writing ability with this lyrically and melodically thought out song showing off the full range and diversity of these young musicians.
You can download the EP on BandCamp and the Real Ghost Records Store, and you can stream the 6 track release on Spotify.
