Nymphya and Rose Thorn
Wednesday 25th September, The Wharf, Stourport

From the California Coast to Stourport Wharf

Following successful shows at The Wharf over the past three years, featuring national touring artists like Dom Martin, the historic canal-side venue in Stourport is preparing to host San Francisco’s art-pop singer/songwriter Nymphya and Brighton’s rising star Rose Thorn for a single show on Wednesday, 25th September. The duo, backed by a four-piece band, will perform their art-rock musical collaboration ‘Outside of Time… Magical Music from The Dreamery’, as part of the production’s debut UK tour.

The Dreamery show engages audiences through an artistic musical conversation that interweaves both artists’ original compositions and uniquely treated cover songs, with stories depicting loss, magic, and discovery. Through songcraft and storytelling, The Dreamery reveals the personal worlds of these two artists, who span different continents, cultures, and generations, encouraging audiences to explore their own feelings.

Nymphya is a former singer with the New York City Opera and San Francisco Opera and, through her love of contemporary music, has performed with John Cale (Velvet Underground) on America’s renowned Tonight Show with Jay Leno and supported Todd Rundgren and George Benson. Nymphya is also a founding member of and music arranger for San Francisco’s acclaimed Screaming Divas. Known for her distinctive, intricate, yet bold musical style and vast musical reach, Nymphya’s personal style of writing and delivery has won her numerous awards. She has also authored and illustrated a coffee-table book to accompany her most recent solo album ‘What Have I Forgotten?’ (released globally in August 2023 and streamed nearly 200,000 times).

Brighton’s Rose Thorn emerged on the Brighton music scene three years ago, quickly drawing large audiences with her resonant songwriting, pure vocal delivery, and smoky tones. Rose’s anticipated debut album is scheduled for release this summer.

Nymphya was recently in Stourport as part of a promotional tour for the show.
