Jethro Tull drummer brings funk/fusion band to The Marrs Bar
Prog-rock legends Jethro Tull are wrapping up the US west coast leg of their current tour next week, which is great for us as it means their drummer Scott Hammond (voted 5th best rock drummer in 2022 by Music Radar has time to drop in to The Marrs Bar, Worcester on Thursday 5th October with his awesome funk/fusion band JINGU BANG before heading on to Germany then back to the US for the east coast leg.
Born in Bristol, Hammond started playing piano when he was six, going on to drums at 14 and completing a jazz degree at Leeds College of Music. He’s performed with a huge array of top British jazz artists including the late Tina May, Nigel Price, Dave O’Higgins, Jason Rebello, Iain Ballamy, Chris Barber, Andy Sheppard and Simon Spillet.
JINGU BANG features Hammond’s wife Ruth (sax and other blowy things), Dale Hambridge (keys), Greig Robinson (bass) and Lisa Cherian (percussion). Expect your favourite Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius and Brotherly tunes alongside equally funky originals.
This is a ticket-free event. Just pop the date in your calendar, turn up on the night and pay what you can afford (minimum £5, cash or card) on the door.
