The third event in ‘The Sound of Worcester’ series by local promoters Uncover which brings Heavy-hitting rock and punk chaos! is happening this Thursday 20th June at Drummonds, Worcester.
Headliners Hipflask Virgins are a local gnarly two-piece band that leak riffs and fire out drum beats that’ll have you bobbin’ your head until your neck snaps.
Over the past few years the duo have been honing an energetic sweat-laden live show full of head-banging (Jay gave himself a concussion at one gig), guttural screams and adrenaline-pumping drum-thumping.
As well as gaining a reputation as a force to be reckoned with live, the band have a strong DIY ethos through recording and producing all of their tracks released to date.
Hipflask Virgins are currently busy in the studio working on their 3rd EP which is due out later this year.
This gig at Drummonds is one of the few times you will be able to catch them this year whilst they focus on studio work. Get down!
The main support for the night are Convey, a nu-metal / hardcore band who sound like any hacked off band with dirty riffs.
Convey were born from the ashes of an old bedroom project and fully formed in 2023, local nu-metal/hardcore outfit Convey played their first explosive show at Cheltenham’s Metal 2 The Masses last year and won their respective heat. The rest of the year saw the release of their first single “Death Rattle” alongside a string of high-intensity support shows.
In March 2024, Convey hosted their own headline show at Paradiddles Worcester supported by their friends in Skora and Aniya Falls. April then graced them with a support slot on Black Coast’s headline show in Birmingham, followed by the release of their 3-track EP “The Broken Anonymous” and another heat victory at Cheltenham’s Metal 2 The Masses.
With the Grand Final on the horizon and a new single currently being recorded, Convey are ever-striving to leave their mark on the local metal scene
Second up are The Cage who sound like “Blik and rage against the machine on a one night stand“.
Opening up the night are Pegging Mitchell who are new to the Worcester scene and play angry songs for angry shes & theys.
Formed in Worcester in early 2024, the band is formed of Emilie Westcott, Emma Howett (CCSMW), Cal Neathway (Zilch) and Zack Esposito. They’ve already got their first 2 gigs under their belt to rave reviews. Socially conscious and rightfully angry, their songs cover topics such as consent, trauma, therapy and rage against everyday sexism and toxic masculinity. Watch out for news of their first recordings by following on socials @pegging_mitchell.
