Practical online business planning, change management and filmmaking workshops are being offered to Worcestershire’s creative and cultural practitioners by Severn Arts in September.
The three workshops, set up to help equip local creative businesses respond to our current situation, are fully funded by Severn Arts and Worcestershire County Council.
Up first is a series of Filmmaking Workshops spread across three days (9, 16 & 23 Sept). Participants will find out how to create professional-looking and sounding short film pieces for websites and social media using a smartphone or tablet. Award-winning filmmakers Nick Fogg and Mike Smart will be delivering this introductory-level workshop. Anyone signing up needs to be available to attend all three of the two-hour sessions: session 1 – developing and shaping ideas, session 2 – capturing best pictures and sound, session 3 – editing for impact.
The second workshop Change Management takes place on 15 September with business consultant Anna Dinnan, exploring how to manage change effectively over time. She invites participants to think about the roles that might be required to take a business through a change process.
Anna will also be leading the Business Planning Workshop, the last in this series of training sessions. This workshop is taking place on 24 September and will discuss the adjustments needed to business planning in the light of Covid-19. The session will also explore how existing assets might be deployed or redeployed.
Elaine Knight, Arts Director, Severn Arts said: “In light of the past few months we have all had to adapt to a new way of working. As an organisation which supports the creative sector we’re delighted to be providing these sessions which will enable people to adapt their processes and practice.”
Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Communities Lucy Hodgson said: “I am so pleased we are able to offer these sessions to support the Worcestershire business community in partnership with Severn Arts. Over the last few months, many businesses have come together to adapt to new ways of working, showing true community spirit. We hope these workshops will offer much-needed support to our local businesses and creatives as we all begin to move forward.”
The workshops are designed for self-employed creatives or as part of an organisation. All are free to attend. Priority will be given to applicants living or working in Worcestershire. To book a place visit https://www.severnarts.org.uk/Pages/Events/Category/training
