Malvern Cube – Friday 19th May 2023
Tickets £20 in Advance
During their initial seven-year run, Dodgy sold over a million records worldwide, released three albums, and had 12 Top 40 singles, including hits like ‘Staying Out For The Summer’, ‘So Let Me Go Far’, ‘Melodies Haunt You’, and the highly successful ‘Good Enough’, which remains one of the most played tracks on British radio in the last 25 years.
In 2023, Dodgy will be celebrating the 27th anniversary of their best-selling album, Free Peace Sweet, which is regarded as a fan favourite and a classic album of its time. Hits like ‘In A Room’, ‘If You’re Thinking Of Me’, ‘Found You’, and ‘Good Enough’ were all spawned by this album, and the band plans to celebrate its 27th birthday with a series of celebratory shows. This follows the hugely successful Homegrown Anniversary shows in 2019 that culminated in an unforgettable night at Shepherds Bush Empire.
Dodgy’s 2012 comeback album, ‘Stand Upright In A Cool Place’, received rave reviews and many media plaudits. The original lineup of the band had done the impossible by reforming and producing a contemporary and relevant album that surpassed their previous work. The album’s sound, which featured “golden harmonies and echoes of CSN&Y and Fleet Foxes,” prompted The Word magazine to say “They’ve just made the record of their career by a country mile”. The Guardian described the album as a “revelation,” while it went on to receive 4**** reviews in Mojo, Uncut, Q, The Times, The Mirror, and The Express.
Dodgy’s fifth album, ‘What Are We Fighting For’, was released on Cherry Red Records in 2017. The album featured the original lineup of Nigel Clark, Mathew Priest, and Andy Miller, as well as new member Stu Thoy on bass and the incredible Vanessa Wilson-Best from Ultrasound. It received amazing reviews and was the first collection of new material since their critically acclaimed reunion album, ‘Stand Upright In A Cool Place’ in 2012.
Gigs and festival appearances have always been a vital part of the Dodgy experience. They are often regarded as the perfect festival band and have performed at most festivals across the UK and Europe, including Bestival, Isle of Wight, Camp Bestival, V Festival, Glastonbury, Reading, Beautiful Days, Hyde Park, Kendal Calling, and many more.
Tickets are available for the Malvern show on Friday 19th May.
