Music Spoken Here presents HOOP!
The Marr’s Bar, Worcester
Thursday 30th November, 8PM doors, 8:30 start
This week to Music Spoken Here welcomes Paul Booth’s Secret Sessions project HOOP to the stage at The Marr’s Bar.
This is an incredible lineup of musicians that, between them, have played with Incognito, Louis Cole, Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, Jamie Cullum, Van Morrison, Quincy Jones, Seal, Steve Winwood, Aretha Franklin and Beverly Knight, to list just a few!
Saxophonist Paul Booth, who has had an incredibly busy year performing with Incognito, Louis Cole, Snowboy & The Latin Section, Tristan Banks and 6 weeks with the Strictly Come Dancing, The Professionals tour, came up with Secret Sessions a few years back. His idea was to invite top musicians to a studio session to write and record new music. Of those who were available for the date, he made up a band but none of them knew who they would be playing with until they turned up!
Hoop was the second of these sessions that happened in 2019, but this year was the first post-pandemic opportunity that the band were able to perform live. Along with Booth on saxes, this performance features Ian Thomas (drums), Laurence Cottle (bass), Ryan Quigley (trumpet), Nichol Thomson (trombone), Chris Allard (guitar) and Tomasz Bura (keys). Naturally, with this line-up the music leans into the jazz fusion space and they are definitely going to maintain the bar of excellence that audiences have come to expect from Music Spoken Here club nights at The Marr’s Bar.
This is a ticketless event – just turn up on Thursday and pay what you can afford (cash or card) on the door.
