Brand New Album Tour – Cut To Black
Begins at Bristol’s Strange Brew on 22 May ‘24
Barry Adamson is set to release a new album, “Cut To Black” in May 2024, marking his first studio album since 2016’s “Know Where To Run”. Accompanying the album is a UK and European tour kicking off at Bristol’s Strange Brew on May 22, with notable stops including London’s Jazz Café on May 24 and wrapping up at Berlin’s Privatclub on June 12.
Adamson’s recent work includes composing the original soundtrack for “Scala!!!,” out now and co-directed by Jane Giles and Ali Catterall, a celebrated documentary about the influential Scala cinema in London, which inspired countless artists and filmmakers. Reflecting on his inspiration from the cinema, Adamson recalls being deeply influenced by a screening of “The Man With the Golden Arm,” leading to the creation of his first solo single.
Raised in Manchester’s Moss Side, Adamson’s musical journey began with the highly influential Magazine until they disbanded in ‘81 after 5 albums. Then later with Birthday Party before establishing himself as a solo artist. His debut solo album, “Moss Side Story,” showcased his diverse compositional skills, earning him acclaim as a composer capable of storytelling through music. Throughout his career, Adamson has collaborated with notable filmmakers such as Derek Jarman, David Lynch, Oliver Stone, and Danny Boyle, contributing his unique musical vision to their projects. With nine studio albums to his name, including the Mercury Music Prize-nominated “Soul Murder” and the critically acclaimed “Oedipus Schmoedipus,” Adamson’s influence continues to resonate across generations of artists and art forms.
