Music Spoken Here presents Brandon Allen’s Groove Band
The Marr’s Bar, 12 Peirpoint Street, Worcester WR1 1TA
Thursday 13th June, 8pm doors / 8:30 start
Australian/UK saxophonist and composer Brandon Allen is set to bring his Groove Band to The Marr’s Bar next week for an evening of groove, funk, and fusion, influenced by legends such as Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Eddie Harris, John Scofield, Tom Scott, David Sanborn, and The Brecker Brothers.
Allen, who also heads up the Brandon Allen Quartet / Sextet and The Stanley Turrentine Project, has toured Internationally with the Kyle East band and performed with Eric Clapton, Paloma Faith, Omar Lyefook, Gary Husband, Adam Nussbaum, Stefano Di Battista, Ibrahim Maalouf and numerous others.
This relatively new band, which has already enjoyed two sold-out shows at Ronnie Scott’s, has an equally impressive collective CV. This gig sees the return of Hamish Balfour (keys) and Laurie Lowe (drums) to the Music Spoken Here stage. They last appeared together with Yolanda Charles’ Project PH back in February last year, and Laurie was back more recently with Sam Leak’s Looking Glass just a few weeks ago.
The lineup is completed by guitarist Mike Outram, who has worked with Carleen Anderson, Tim Garland, Chick Corea, Steven Wilson and Herbie Mann. Chris Attwell (Valmuz) completes the rhythm section on bass.
