Many of you Slapmag followers will have been to the Artrix Arts Centre in Bromsgrove’s first “incarnation” between April 2005 and March 2020, before sadly it went into administration for a variety of reasons – but not because of a lack of popularity!!
Since then Bromsgrove Arts Alive, an association of over forty local arts organisations, plus many other people in the Bromsgrove Town and District, have been working incredibly hard to re-open the Venue.
From November 2023, Artrix has been in operation once again, and since April 2024 has been under the management of a voluntary community organisation, Bromsgrove Community Arts ( BCA )
Members of BCA, the Artrix Holding Trust and Bromsgrove District Council are working towards an agreement for the venue to remain open for the next three years and beyond.
The Chair of The Holding Trust, Anita Dale, said “We are keen to reassure residents of Bromsgrove and the Arts Centre’s supporters that we are working behind the scenes to ensure Artrix continues to be part of the Town and District’s long term Arts and Culture provision.”
The Chair of BCA, Graham Mackenzie, said “BCA has been running Artrix on a sustainable volunteer led basis since April with great success, and has a full programme of shows and events planned to the end of 2024. It is very keen to continue to offer a full programme of shows and room hires at Artrix in 2025 and for the foreseeable future.” People can find out what’s on by visiting the Artix Website.
BCA welcomes enquiries from acts / performers / organisations who would like to hire part or all of the Venue. All five of the rooms – The Main Auditorium, The Studio, and the BCA. Rooms 1,2 and 3 – are available for hire.
The two Performance Spaces are The Studio, which can accommodate up to 90 people and which was completely refurbished in August, with new LED lighting, a new sound system and a new floor – and The Main Auditorium, which seats 301 people with theatre style banked seating. Rooms 1,2 and 3 are ideal as Meeting Rooms. Parking will continue to be free to people using or visiting the Venue.
