Music Spoken Here presents The Boom Yeh
The Marr’s Bar, 12 Pierpoint Street, Worcester WR1 1TA
Thursday 10th April 2025, 8pm doors / 8:30 start

Worcester promoter Music Spoken Here continues their exciting program of top quality, contemporary live music at The Marr’s Bar on Thursday 10th April with The Boom Yeh!

The progressive program of performances, which started with monthly shows in 2022 and now runs every second and fourth Thursday of the month, has seen the venue packed for all six shows so far this year. After almost three years, the people of Worcester and from miles around are starting to cotton on to just how special these events are, bringing a consistently high standard of fresh, original, contemporary live music to the city.

Stalwarts of the London music scene, The Boom Yeh are at the forefront of redefining British Jazz-Funk with their high-level musicianship and electrifying live performances. Following the release of their third album Near-Earth Objects last year, they will be appearing in Worcester for the first time.

Featuring musicians that have worked with Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Alice Russell and Leroy Hutson, they have performed to sell out audiences at Ronnie Scott’s, EFG London Jazz Festival, The Elgar Room(Royal Albert Hall), Pizza Express Jazz Club (Soho) and Manchester Jazz Festival, garnering the support and praise of BBC Radio 6, Jazz FMand radio/club DJs far and wide.

The Boom Yeh – Othership (Live In Session)

Propelled by the powerhouse rhythm section of band leader/guitarist Jon Speedy, bass player Matteo Grassi and drummer William Francis, the band’s compositions are interspersed with the sophisticated horn arrangements of alto sax player Ian Bailey. For this performance the horn section will be completed with Dave Sear on trombone and Thomas Kleyn on baritone sax.

Darren Arthurs (Jazz Review) describes their music as “toe-tapping, percussive-heavy instrumental music with the emphasis on getting you on the dance floor.”, which is fortunate, as the venue has retained the original sprung dancefloor from the 1950s when it was a dance studio. Admission is free for Music Spoken Here Club Members. Non-members are asked to contribute what they can afford on the door, with a suggested contribution of £10-15.
